Lydia of Thyatira was a businesswoman and church leader when what is now called the Christian faith was just beginning. She was a merchant in purple cloth and owned a household on a major trade route (Acts 16). Two thousand years ago, before the church even had a Bible, God opened Lydia's heart and she took action. She didn't wait for approval. She stepped into faith leadership with holy courage to create a sacred sanctuary for her friends. That changed her life, her community, and beyond. What activity do we know happened at Lydia's house? Encouragement. This is why Lydia is the inspiration for The Lydia Effect Substack.
